Greater Fort Lauderdale Road Runners
Maybe you never use the words "fun" and "run" in the same sentence.
Maybe you are a jogger, but you're uninspired and tired of running by yourself.
Maybe you've been running for years, but you can't seem to break the 8:00 minute mile 5K pace.
Maybe you have wondered what it would be like to complete a marathon.
For any one of you, or anyone in between, check out this club . . . we might just be the right running club for you!!!

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Road Runner's Club (GFLRRC) is a non-profit group incorporated under the State of Florida to promote running for health and exercise in Broward County. The club is directed by a dedicated leadership team that provides well organized runs on beautiful courses for weekly fun runs at the beach, training/speed workouts (2 locations in Broward County), social get-togethers, and major races throughout the year. In addition, members receive discounts at various area merchants, and a monthly newsletter designed to keep members informed of the running scene in the area.

If you are a beginner, come and meet some of the team members and coaches. Certified walking/running coaches will help motivate and coach you on proper running techniques, how many days a week you should train, as well as other do's and don'ts. They will tailor a training schedule to suit you individually based on your current level of physical fitness as well as your goals (what you'd like to achieve through walking or running).

If you are a casual runner and would like to run on beautiful courses (Accelerade provided on most) with a nice group of people, come and meet the team. There's no doubt you'll find someone at your level to run with. If you want to take your running to the next level, our coaches will work with you to help you get there.

If you're a hard core runner, come and push yourself to the limit. We have a great group of seasoned runners who will help you raise the bar—or maybe you'll set the bar! Either way, our team and our coaches can help you improve as well.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Road Runners Club has something to offer everyone. Just show up to one of our weekly runs, or sponsored races (both are posted on our web site) . . . . and see for yourself exactly why we are so proud of our group.

Testimonials:
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Running Club is great in so many ways. It is a supportive and knowledgeable group of runners, has a couple of awesome coaches, and has the best "long run" of any running club in South Florida.

To think that all the mile markers are clearly delineated from Deerfield Beach to Delray Beach, and that Accelerade is put out in 3 jugs throughout the course, makes those tough runs just a bit easier.

It is one of the reasons I drive 40 miles each way from Downtown Miami when I'm in training for a race. I would wholeheartedly recommend joining this club to new and experienced runners alike.

-----------------------

I have never considered myself an athlete--certainly not a runner. But 2 years ago, I showed up for a Thursday run at Fort Lauderdale beach to give running a try. I couldn't get into a routine at the gym, but at 37, I knew I needed to do SOMETHING to try to finally get into shape. I was SO slow—I walked more than I ran--I only went a few miles the first time. But I showed up the next week, and I went a little farther. Then a few months later, I actually went 6 miles! I was told that there was a beach run on Sunday mornings in Deerfield. When I asked what time, I was told 6 a.m.!! I scoffed, and remember saying, "You'll never see me there!" Well, wouldn't you know . . .now I am a Sunday morning regular. I also run a track work out once a week with the club, directed by Howard Elakman, our marathon training coach. Oh yeah, I've completed 2 marathons!! It's been such a surprising thing for me, to find this group, these people, these friends. I guess I'm a runner now, I just like getting outside, having nice people to see a few times a week to break a sweat with, a coach to teach me and support me, and a healthy hobby to boot!
